Hong Kong and Shenzhen are adjacent cities that share a land border.

Students may select a roommate in advance. Those who do not select a roommate will be randomly paired with another student of the same gender.

Passport & Chinese Visa

All travelers are required to obtain a passport before departing the United States. Once accepted to the program, students should immediately apply for a passport. To apply for a passport, click here. If you already hold a current passport, please ensure that your passport is valid for a least six months from the conclusion of the program. All non-Chinese citizens are required to obtain a Chinese visa before entering China. The program will coordinate a group visa application process in March. A current and valid passport will be required.

Transportation

Air Travel

Airfare between the United States and China is not included in the program fee. Students are responsible for making their own flight arrangements. You may want to consider arriving earlier than required to explore the region on your own. After the program’s conclusion, you may fly out of Shenzhen, Hong Kong, or another city. It is also a good idea to explore China and the nearby region on your own before returning to the United States.

Local Transportation

The Hong Kong MRT and the Shenzhen Metro are both highly efficient public transportation systems along with the extensive bus lines.
